Simon recently transformed its old factory in Poble Nou into its new global corporate headquarters.
The project not only physically transforms the building, but also drives a major cultural shift at Simon. The new design has been developed by a group of highly recognised professionals, such as b720 (in the architecture), Katty Schiebeck (in the interior design of the offices), Antoni Arola (in the conception of the showroom) and Michela Mezzavilla (in the lighting design). They all seek an objective which is to support the four fundamental pillars of the company: collaboration, well-being, sustainability and innovation.
Luz Negra has collaborated by manufacturing linear luminaires, integrating digital LED (Protopixel technology), luminaires with LED strips for the floor and also ceiling-type luminaires with flexible fronts.
The building incorporates the latest digitalization technologies in infrastructure, spaces and services. Likewise, it has different approvals, such as the LEED Platinum seal, WELL or Cradle to Cradle certifications, and also the A energy rating.
The new headquarters has been baptised with the name SWITCH and its initials respond to the following terms: Simon, Worldwide, Innovation, Talent, Community and Hub. As explained by the company, “it is a reflection of everything that the centre aspires to be.”
